The home is equipped with a 2011 American Standard furnace located in the hallway and a 2016 indoor evaporator coil with matching outdoor condenser. The system is operational but would benefit from comprehensive maintenance and cleaning to optimize performance and indoor air quality. The furnace powers on, and all electrical components engage properly. However, the system does not ignite at this time due to the gas supply being shut off to the property. The main blower wheel is heavily coated with dust and debris, indicating the need for a thorough cleaning to improve airflow, system efficiency, and prevent premature wear on components. The ductwork consists of R-6 insulated ducting with eight 8 supply vents and one 1 return cavity. No visible rips or tears were found in the ductwork. However, interior duct surfaces and register covers show significant dust buildup, indicating the need for professional duct cleaning to enhance air quality and overall system performance. Upon arrival, the system was not turning on. After checking all electrical components, I discovered that the breaker was off. Capacitors were reading low, and the contactor and unit were dirty, causing poor airflow through the coils. I recommended replacing the capacitors and contactor as a temporary fix, as well as deep cleaning the unit. Additionally, the compressor made a loud clunk sound when the unit turned off, which the customer was aware of.
I was called to a home to perform a furnace maintenance check on a 2021 Day & Night furnace. Upon arrival, I noticed that the inducer motor had kicked on and then immediately shut off. After removing the cover, I found error code 3 flashes, indicating a pressure switch issue. Upon further inspection, I discovered that the pressure switch tubing had been chewed by rats. This caused the pressure switch diaphragm to fail. I recommended replacing the pressure switch tubing, pressure switch under warranty, cleaning and disinfecting the furnace area, and labor only charging parts covered under warranty. The client agreed to the recommendations and the work was completed.

I am a highly skilled home service professional who recently completed a job for a client. The client requested that both their upstairs and downstairs systems be checked to ensure everything was operating properly. Upstairs System: After speaking with the client, I called for heat, and the system kicked on and began heating. It went through the furnace sequence correctly. I observed the following: Inducer motor: Bearings sounded rough. Blower capacitor: Reading 7.1 °F rated for 7.5 °F (6%), close to being under tolerance. System performance: Heating properly. Recommendations: Clean blower wheel Replace blower capacitor Clean flame sensor Replace inducer motor Replace air filter Downstairs System: Called for heat, and the system kicked on and began operating. Upon opening the furnace, I found the blower motor showing signs of oil leakage. The blower capacitor rated for 7.5 °F, reading 6.8 °F, which is below the allowable tolerance. The blower wheel was also found to be dirty.
I was called to a home to repair a thermostat and air handler. Upon arrival, I found that the thermostat was not working properly and the air handler was not receiving power. I diagnosed the issue as a faulty wiring connection. I explained to the homeowner the cost of the repair and asked for payment. I also informed them that I needed to charge their credit card on file for the repair. The homeowner agreed and provided their credit card information. I completed the repair and the homeowner paid the bill.
